Jazz Age Lawn Party on Governors Island

If you’ve never been to the Jazz Age Lawn Party on Governors Island, you MUST go next year.  This bi-annual event takes place over one weekend in June and another in August.  The day starts with a ride on the ferry out to Governors Island where you are whisked back into time to the Gatsby 1920s.  The party is put on by Michael Arenella and his Dreamland Orchestra along with a number of guests, performers and vendors.  Besides a picnic and a nice stroll on the lawn, you’ll enjoy dance performances, live music along with intermissions by authentic antique phonographs, lots of dancing, and cocktails all afternoon long.  And if you aren’t sure that you look enough like your grandparents (or great grandparents), you can check out the vendors at the event as well.  They’ll give you the final touch, turning anyone into a Zelda or Fitzgerald.
