Independence Day

On the 4th of July this year, I headed over to Chelsea to watch the Macy’s fireworks from the Foley Gallery fire escape on 28th Street in Manhattan.  We didn’t have access to the roof so the fire escape on the 6th floor wasn’t bad – it gave us a great view of the Hudson and of at least 4 of the Macy’s barges.  However… at the very, VERY last minute, we managed to get ourselves up to the roof.  I was still setting up the tripod when the first batch of fireworks went off.  The show was AMAZING and it looked as if the fireworks were right over our heads as we were only a block and a half away from the river.  Using a wide angle lens… here are a few of my faves…
